Taking Up a Collection

By the time you hit adulthood, there’s a good chance you’ve accumulated some sort of a collection — be it exotic plates from world travels or something as simple as your sister’s black and white photography. While it’s tempting to spread the things you love throughout your home, consider grouping them together in one location on a wall.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be something sentimental, maybe just a grouping of vintage mirrors with the trim painted in your favorite color.
You could try artwork with a theme….

Or create a symmetrical shape with white plates against a deep hue colored wall.

It doesn’t have to be at face level either. Consider placing the collection higher on the wall to draw the eye up.

Or consider taking consistency to the extreme. Here’s a great example of how to do so, all white frames, white mattes, white walls — the focus is on the black and white photography.
Take a look around your home. What do you already have that could make a great collection?
