The stairway to opportunity

The stairway to opportunity

One of the most overlooked areas when it comes to interior design is the stairway.

A stairway isn’t just a method of getting from one level to another, it’s an opportunity to make a major statement or simply add a neutral backdrop to show off the rest of your beautiful home.

Most of the time the staircase is seen by everyone that comes through your house, and often times, the first thing to be seen when you enter the home.  So why not give them something to see?

Whether you have carpet or hardwood floors, the stair runner is a great way to show your personality, add texture, add color, add a pattern, or a simple detail to add interest to your home.

Not sure where to start? Here’s some inspiration.

Add some texture to your space with a sisal carpet, the band is a nice detail.
Get funky with it! The photo gallery wall is the focus but a graphic stairway adds an interesting backdrop.
Even neutral can be eye-catching. The white border here leads the eye up the staircase.
I had to save the best for last. How fabulous is this bright green runner for a pop of color in a black and white room. It’ a certain taste that’s for sure but I’m loving the mod glam look.
